What is Innovative Design at UCI?
InnoD is a student-run creative agency and community for creatives at UCI, including designers, photographers, and more. We provide creative services to campus clubs and local businesses, giving members the opportunity to refine their skills through real-world project experience. Through doing so, we aim to serve as a space for members to learn and grow, both as professionals and as people, while also benefiting our local community.
Innovative Design was first founded at UC Berkeley, with independent chapters later being established at USC and UCLA. InnoD at UCI is the newest member of the Innovative Design family, founded in 2026 by Lillian Yao (@lillian.productions) and Hyowon Gu (@neonovella).
How does InnoD work?
Currently, we plan to have Media, Design, and UI/UX teams, with potential expansions into industrial design and other related fields in the future. Teams work on interdisciplinary, cross-subteam projects.
We also aim to create a welcoming and tight-knit community for creatives at UCI through hosting social events, workshops, and more.

How can I get involved?
General recruitment will begin in fall 2026. Please note that the recruitment process is currently a work in progress, and more updates will be provided once available.
Want to get involved now? We’re currently looking for people with experience in the following skills to join our executive board:
Finance and accounting: Managing finances, sponsorships, and spending for the club.
Event planning and operations: Planning social events as well as workshops.
Outreach, marketing and recruitment: Finding and corresponding with future clients, including both clubs and businesses, as well as future members.
Branding: Creating a memorable, consistent, but also evolving brand identity for InnoD at UCI.
Creative skills: Any sort of visual creative or art skill—photography, design, illustration, UI/UX, video, etc.
Social media: Production and distribution of social media content.
Technology: Ensuring our external-facing website and our internal communication and management tools run smoothly and remain updated.
